Slowpitch: Points Season Ends Nov 31st
|
2008
Season Update: Tournament classes or age groups
may be split into
upper/lower, A/B, High/Low flights due to size,
weather, play-in seeding game, or other reason as
determined by the tournament director. New for
2008: Teams that
participate in the lower tier bracket will no longer
receive 1st , 2nd, 3rd, or 4th place Tournament
Finish Points. Teams will continue to receive
sponsor and /or team and player awards as in the past
for top finishes. Only the points award will
change.
Also please note that the director's report on
PlayNSA.com will show 1 tournament, with finishes
listed from 1st through N, where N is the number of
teams overall in the age group/class.
Please see notes below. |
|
| Points will be awarded for: |
- Finishing in the top 4 places

|
Team points will be calculated as
defined below. See
the example below. |
| Tournament Participation Points
|
- Each Team receives 5 points for entering the
tournament
|
| Tournament Finish Points |
- 1st Place: 20 points
- 2nd Place: 15 points
- 3rd Place: 10 points
- 4th Place: 5 points
Note:
No points will be awarded to "lower" flight
teams for 1st - 4th place finishes in a class or age
group where the tournament has been splint to upper
/ lower flights.
|
| Tournament Size Bonus Points |
Teams will receive Bonus Points based
on the size of the tournament, relative to their
position in the final standings.
The idea here is that a team that wins or
finishes high in a 30 team tournament should get
more points that a team than wins or finishes
high in a tournament with 8 teams.
Additionally, in a 30 team
tournament, the 5th place team won a lot of
games and overall had a good weekend, but would
otherwise walk away with the same number of
points as teams that finished 6th, 7th, and even
the team that finished 30th.
If there are ties (as will frequently
happen), points will be shared.
Bonus Points will be awarded as
follows for a tournament of size N teams:
- 1st Place: N points
- 2nd Place: N-1 points
- 3rd Place: N-2 points
- Last Place: 1 point
Note:
tournaments split into upper / lower tiers will
award Tournament Size Bonus Points based on the COMBINED #
of teams in both flights.

- Ties. It's very likely
that the last two teams could end up 0-2 for a DE
tournament. This would mean they finished TIE for
11th. Therefore these teams would split the
11th and 12th place points (each would be awarded
(7+6) / 2 = 6.5 points. Other positions will
likely end up tied as well.
- Tournament position
will be based only on final record during the
championship round.
- Additional notes and policies will be added.
For example, if your team is disqualified,
there's a good chance you won't get any points
but we'll spell all this out shortly.
- Note:
if the example tournament was actually split
into a high/low format based on a play-in game
or pool play results, the winners of the play-in
would play for a 1st through 6th place finish.
The losers would play for a 7th through 12th
place finish, tho individual awards will likely
be awarded to the top finishers in the lower
tier.
