Williamsburg 2012 State Fastpitch
Clinic.
Seasons Greetings NSA Umpires. Here is hoping that all of you
had a wonderful Thanksgiving and your upcoming Christmas and New
Years will be even better. Before you know it, it will be time
for us to hit the diamonds again so I am sending out this email
to inform you that the State Fast Pitch Umpire clinic will be
held in Williamsburg VA on 21 Jan 2012 at Anna’s Pizza
Restaurant, 2021 Richmond Road (757-229-5252). There is plenty
of parking spaces in back of the restaurant. Registration will
be from 9:00 thru 10:00 AM and then we will go right into the
clinic. Other clinics to be held in Roanoke and NOVA will be
announced as soon as I can get a firm date from the area UICs.
All umpires are highly encouraged to attend at least one of
these clinics. It is mandatory for anyone wishing to umpire
States and Post season tournaments. Everyone will be expected to
go on line (www.playnsa.com)
and register prior to coming to the clinic.
Those who wait to register at the clinic using the registration
form will be accessed and additional $5.00 administration fee.
Registration fees will be $40.00 plus $15.00 clinic fee. Those
who will be umpiring Fast and Slow pitch must pay $45.00
registration fee and $15.00 clinic fee. Registration and
approval for umpires to receive 2012 sanction numbers will begin
on Thursday Dec 15, 2011. Early registration is encouraged and I
will have a copy of your sanction number at the clinic. Those
paying at the clinic will receive their sanction numbers the
following week upon completion of all registrations. Please keep
in mind that all umpires must have a sanction number before you
can order umpire apparel.
Anyone wanting to order uniform items through me, I will be
placing a bulk order prior to the clinic and will have the items
at the clinic. Ordering bulk will help save you a few dollars on
shipping and handling. Call or email your list to me NLT 9 Jan
so I will have time to get the order in and receive the items
before the clinic date. I will be out of town 1-7 Jan. The
following is the regular cost of required items; Caps - $22.00
fitted or adjustable, Shirts - $32.00 (add $2.00 for XL sizes),
Plate Pants - $34.50 , Base Pants - $39.00, Shorts - $29.50,
Jackets $33.00 (add $2.00 for XL sizes) and Ball bags -$18.00.
We do not plan for this to be a long drawn out session but one
that will be informative discussing area we have noticed
throughout the year that you need to work on, scenarios that
will make you think and hopefully enhance your game performance,
and rule changes and words of wisdom from the NSA National
Convention. I encourage your participation. If any of you have
concerns or issues you would like discussed, please email them
to me as soon as possible so I can include them in the agenda. I
can be reached daily at 757-838-5939 or email me at
jimfinch1@verizon.net. I look forward to seeing all of you
in 2012.

THE NATIONAL UMPIRE TRAINING SCHOOL |
|
NSA, after many years of planning,
introduces the National Umpire Training School. The
program is concentrated on teaching the proper
mechanics as preferred by NSA with the goal of
achieving more consistency throughout the NSA
program.
The training staff is made up of NSA
veteran umpires and a director who will travel the
country to put on the two day clinics at a location
requested by a state, local or regional
association. The clinic will include classroom
presentations, and field drills and field
instruction for umpires of all experience levels. It
is highly recommended if you get the opportunity to
attend one of these clinics that you take advantage
and make this a must-do activity.
Clinics are offered annually from
October 1 through March 31. All clinics will be
coordinated by the Directors or
UIC’s
with the National Director of Umpires at NSA
headquarters.
Additional information and a planning
document with clinic information is available by
contacting the school director Mr. Lou Davis at
LouTheUmp@aol.com
or by phone at 425 238 7385. |
